Global Indigenous Art (M1-D1)

Global Indigenous art forms are rich, diverse expressions of cultural identity, spirituality, and connection to the land. They are often rooted in ancient techniques passed down through generations. In this ASA, we will focus on indiginous art forms from across the globe. It will include trying a hand at traditional painting styles. We will explore Indian warli, Madubani, Khalighat, Gond art forms, Australian Aboriginal dot paintings, Native American sand paintings, totem poles and African art where each piece tells a story. We will take inspiration from Indigenous artists and blend traditional elements with contemporary styles to preserve our heritage while engaging in conversations about our diverse identities.

Disconnected is an ASA for students seeking to spend their time creatively and mindfully, away from electronic devices. Through arts, crafts, games, and collaborative projects, participants can explore their interests, build social connections, and enjoy being fully present in the moment.

Chess
Chess game writing, also known as chess notation, is a system for recording and describing moves made during a chess game. The most common system is algebraic notation, which uses a grid-based system with letters (a-h) for files (columns) and numbers (1-8) for ranks (rows) to identify each square on the board. Pieces are represented by their first letter (K for King, Q for Queen, R for Rook, B for Bishop, and N for Knight, as K is already used)

Bollywood Dance style is a fusion of various dance styles. It includes Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Bhangra, Jazz, Hip-hop, Arabic, Western dance to name a few. Classical Indian dance incorporates the two basic elements of dance and expression.
